ET-I²t Overload Protection Device
OVERVIEW: This device integrates I²t protection, ensuring the motor remains safe during pro longed operation, overloads, or short circuits. By continuously monitoring current and cutting off power before harmful conditions arise, the I²t protection device extends the life of your motor, reduces downtime, and increases operational safety.
Applications:
• All types of resistive, inductive and capacitive loads
• Industrial automation systems
• Electric vehicles and e-bikes
• Robotics
• HVAC systems
• Pumps, fans, and compressors
• Power tools
Key features:
• I²t Protection: Safeguards devices by monitoring current over time and responding to excessive load conditions before overheating occurs.
• Programmable running time limit:
To further protect devices such as DC motors that
have a limited duty cycle (can not run constantly or they overheat) the motor can be limited to a maximum run time of of the clients choosing. Regardless of the motor current the device turns off after x seconds.
• OEM plugs:
If compatibility with the existing
wiring circuit is necessary we can offer custom
plugs or cable ends. This greatly reduces
installation time and difficulty (see Figure 1).
• Compact and tough design:
Small form factor that can easily integrate into existing motor control circuits. The all aluminum case and the potting of internal electronics give enhanced protection even in harsh conditions.
Technical specifications:
• Input voltage: 8–36 VDC
• Nominal current: 10 A
• Max. running time: Continous or custom value
• Operating temperature: −40°C to +50°C
• Dimensions: 42x54x24mm (without plugs)
• Ingress protection: IP67
• Certification and standards:
AEC-Q100 qualified components

Benefits of I²t protection device for DC motors
I²t protection is generally superior to conventional I*t protection for overcurrent and overload protection in systems where the thermal effects of current are critical (such as motors, wires, and power electronics).
It offers a more refined response curve, better protection for thermal overload, and greater flexibility in system design. It’s ideal for protecting against sustained overloads, while still allowing
high startup currents without unnecessary tripping.
